IEEE Young Professionals Karachi Section organized its second meet-up in Mehran University of Engineering & Technology which was chaired by Engr. Muhammad Hanan Daudpota whereas Dr. Samir EL , Vice Chairman, IEEE Publication Services was invited as the Guest of Honour.
Dr. El-Ghazaly is the 2018 Vice President of IEEE and the Chair of the Publication Services and Products Board. He is a Fellow of IEEE. He was the chairman of Commissions A and D of the U.S. National Committee of URSI. He was the General Chairman of the IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Symposium, Phoenix, Arizona, May 2001. He was the President of the IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society (2010). He served as the Chair of the IEEE-Technical Activities Board’s Periodicals Committee (2012-13), the Vice Chair of the IEEE Publications Services and Products Board (2013), and the Chair of the IEEE-TAB Periodical Review and Advisory Committee (2014-15).
IEEE Young Professionals Karachi Section organized its first meet-up in Usman Institute of Technology which was chaired by Engr. Muhammad Hanan Daudpota whereas Dr. Zia Ahmed, Chairman, IEEE Australian Council were invited as the Guest of Honour. Mr. Omeal Ahmed G.M, K. Electric and M. Nabeel, CEO Edvon were invited as Industrial Representatives to discuss the possible futuristic collaborations and perks of IEEE professional membership.
Dr.Zia Ahmed highlights that how to use IEEE for own benefits, we don’t have to give anything, there are many opportunities for us to use to make our career better .He also shared this personal experiences which were very appreciable was well as helpful for the betterment of the organization.
Dr. Zia Ahmed address the importance of IEEE for YP and industries. The wide-ranging discussion addressed important issues facing students and fresh graduates, how the IEEE community can support members to overcome the potential challenges. He spoke about how YP platform would be effective to bridge the gap between industry and academic needs. He further added into this, by organizing mock interview sessions in student branches, will give them the idea of how industries will hire and what attributes they are looking for in an individual. It must ensure that we have oversight of challenges and needs of young engineers in Industry.
The highest node was how to interact with the Technology world.
Young Professionals today confront numerous difficulties in their early career which incorporate adjusting a social existence with the professional career, understanding the organization culture and building up a career pathway, obtaining a further education while concentrating on day to day activities and how one can maintain work-life balance
Over here Mr.Omeal also share his views that in the field they need technical person which have the skills to handle the situation. He also shares his views that what they face and what they want for the organization.
A token of appreciation was given to Dr Zia Ahmed by Engr Parkash Lohana and a tradition “Ajrak” was presented to Dr Zia Ahmed by Engr. Muhammad Hanan Daudpota.
IEEE Young Professionals Pakistan along with IEEE Young Professionals Karachi Affinity Group have initiated an idea of holding series of Online Session in which the graduate students and young professionals will get the opportunity to Listen & Interact with one of the best Professionals across the globe from recognize organizations.
The purpose of the session would be to share their experiences with young and energetic graduates who wish to pursue such careers in future. The session would enable to get an insight know-how about that profession and that particular career path. The webinar would be followed by a Q/A session.
First session of the series is being organized along with IEEE YP Karachi which was given by Ravendar Bhojwani who is currently working in Amazon.com, Inc. and past Global Student Representative at IEEE Computer Society.
The first session was conducted on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at 1:00 pm (PST) of duration of 60 minutes. Participants were required to register themselves to access the webinar. According to the statistics, about 180+ people registered themselves in which 40% participants were IEEE Members and 60% were Non-IEEE Members, and around 150+ attended the on-line webinar.

IEEE NUCES Student Branch (Karachi, Pakistan) along with IEEE Young Professionals Karachi AG conducted an activity on Monday, May 12th named â€˜IEEE Green Energy Showcase 2014â€™. The activity conducted under IEEE Special Interest Group on Humanitarian Technology (SIGHT) is an initiative that focuses on creating opportunities for members to devote time and talents to humanitarian work consistent with #IEEE’s Constitution to Student Branch (Karachi) â€œbring the benefits of technology to the entire world.â€
IEEE NUCES Student Branch (Karachi) for the first time brings an event to showcase the skills and innovative ideas to a platform from where students can be recognized. IEEE aims to give innovative ideas and designs for generating green energy. There were more than 28 projects of different types including kinetic energy muscular energy, wind energy and many more. Students took part actively and were motivated by Director of National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences – FAST. Shields and certificates were also distributed among the participants and winners.
Student participated with real dedication and there were very motivated towards there project, there hard work can easily evident by the following work. Thanks to Team – IEEE NUCES Student Branch.

IEEE Isra Student Branch organized their first seminar of 2014. The seminar was based on Robotics, IEEE SIGHT and Scope of IT as the seminar was entitled as Xploring IEEE. The seminar was held at the Asadullah Kazi auditorium with a participation of more than 300 people including students and faculty members. The seminar was consisting of 4 sessions conducted by well-known speakers including Mr. Rabeet Sagri, Eng. Ahmed Mujtaba Chang, Mr. Jamil Kandhir along with Mr. Azhar Kamal. Mr Rabeet Sagri introduced IEEE SIGHT (Special Interest Group on Humanitarian Technology) which is a platform to serve humanity through the usage of technology. Later Mr. Azhar Kamal who currently is the director of AVINAZ Solutions gave a detailed session on the scope of IT and motivated students to enhance their skills in the field of IT. It grabbed the attention as it was also attended by the Acting Vice Chancellor who also was the chief guest Prof. Dr. Abdul Ghani Kazi along with the Pro Vice Chancellor (Engineering & Management Sciences) Prof. Dr. Hameedullah Kazi. Meanwhile a robot was demonstrated by Eng. Ahmed Mujtaba Chang which was controlled by a remote control, later he also demonstrated a quad copter which attracted the participants. The office bearers including the Chair of IEEE ISB Nabeel Abid and Vice Chair Amaad Soomro gave the Welcome address and Flash Back IEEE respectively. The event also had a healthy media coverage including Express News, Tech Tv, FM 88 and FM 105. The event partners for the seminar were AVINAZ Business Solutions who also announced 17 scholarships for the students of Isra University in different learning program. This seminar was highly appreciated.
IEEE Young Professionals Karachi is trying tooth and nail to prove its metal. The team IEEE Young Professionals participated IEEE XPLORE 2014 at NED University, where Ms. Bint-e-Zohra and Mr. Rabeet Sagri were invited to speak on importance of professionalism in student bodies and IEEE benefits respectively.
Mr.Rabeet Sagri gave a brief overview on the role that IEEE plays internationally for the advancement of technological innovation and excellence. He explained the vision of IEEE which is to serve global technical community. He also acquainted the audience with the organizational structure of IEEE that how it is divided with respect to hierarchy and how the IEEE student branches, IEEE sections and IEEE headquarters are linked with each other. He covered all the aspects in his presentation including the benefits that IEEE offers to its members which is a confidence boosting factor for the members who serve IEEE. Some of the benefits that he mentioned were access to IEEEâ€™s tech research magazine â€œIEEE Spectrumâ€, IEEE Xplore Digital Library, IEEE job site, IEEE.tv, myIEEE (portal), Safari Books, online, IEEE webinars, IEEE Computer Society and last but not the least IEEE Awards for the members with outstanding performances.
He also talked about the recent initiatives that IEEE has taken to meet its objectives like IEEE EPICS (Engineering Projects in Community Service) and IEEE SIGHT. IEEE EPICS is in collaboration with NGOs to deploy engineering projects for the well-being of community. IEEE Sight is a special interest group on Humanitarian technology. He also laid stress on the project related to â€œTelemedicine Networkâ€ from Pakistan which was selected among top 20 projects all over the world.
Ms Bint-e-Zohra emphasize on the importance of professionalism in student bodies. She discuss the importance of collaboration of different societies, mutual understanding of affinity groups and importance of taking initiatives.
